What Genesis actually offers

Some Genesis models advertise "solar glass" or similar heat-rejecting glass options, but whether your GV70 sunroof has that depends on year and package. Check your window sticker or owner's manual rather than assuming a specific coating.

Many GV70 trims include a motorized interior sunshade. When deployed, that blocks direct UV entirely—it's the most reliable option built into the car.

Should you worry about skin damage?

With the shade open and sunroof glass overhead, meaningful UVA still gets through. You won't sunburn easily, but sitting under an open sunroof for long stretches—especially at midday—is real exposure. Same goes for interior fading on the dashboard and seats over years of sunny parking.

Closing the interior shade when you're not using the open-air feel is the simplest fix. Sunscreen on exposed skin helps too if you drive with the shade retracted a lot.

Aftermarket options

If you want more blocking, a UV-filtering ceramic or film tint on the sunroof glass can get you close to 99%. Some owners add tint for heat reduction as much as UV. Just confirm with your installer that the film is compatible with panoramic roof glass—warranty and heat buildup matter on large panels.

Bottom line: the GV70 sunroof has reasonable factory tint, not full UV protection. For occasional use with the shade open, you're probably fine. For daily sun exposure in a hot climate, the shade—or added film—is worth using.
